How can I have a relationship with God?
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
God has shown Himself to us both through His creation and through the Bible. He is amazingly magnificent, showing just some of his glory in the beauty of the Earth, the vastness of the sky, and the intricacy of creation. He is also completely holy, and therefore cannot allow sin in His presence.
In light of God's holy perfection, the Bible also reveals some bad news about us. We were created in God's image, but chose to rebel against Him and violate His nature through the breaking of His laws. Our sinfulness leaves us as God's enemies, destined for punishment.
Thankfully, God did not leave us without hope. In His loving graciousness, God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world, that Christ might exchange His perfect life and relationship with God for our sin and its consequences. He took those consequences in His horrible death on the cross and demonstrated His victory through rising from the dead.
Now He offers salvation to you. It is not an offer to be gained by hard work, but a gift to be received with humble gratitude. You must believe that Christ died for you, repent of your sins, and call on Him for forgiveness and a restored relationship with God.
